Chenzo's Italian Kitchen & Bar: Authentic Italian Flavors & Craft Beers in Higganum, CT

We were fortunate enough to get invited to the soft opening, their second day of soft opening. The place was nice and full. A warm and inviting atmosphere greeted us, along with a friendly and bubbly staff. I sampled their craft beer selection, which is a a very nice curated selection which is comprised of several local beers from the very near region (Myrcene, Phantom, Little House). Clearly a lot of care and attention was put into even this small detail. I had the Cavatelli and Meatball entree, and it was absolutely amazing. I couldn't eat enough of it. My wife is a vegan and had the Margherita Pizza with dairy free cheese. She was in love at first bite. The service, from the time we saw the hostess to the time we left was amazing and warm. Everyone appears to be well trained and has a great and hospitable attitude, even when dealing with the stress of the second day of a soft opening. This restaurant is going places, that is clear. I can't wait to see it.

Food is delicious. Warm atmosphere. Friendly staff. Maddie was awesome. Creative cocktails. A must try.

Have had lunch at Chenzo's several times before posting a rating to be certain we would not regret anything in the rating. Mike and I have had quite a few different items like the calamari, soup, salad, panini, dinners, dessert, bread and more. Fabulous! Food, service and atmosphere! Have not tried the pizza yet but we will soon.

We ordered takeout-pizza and pasta ala vodka with grilled chicken. Food was ready as promised and pickup was very easy at the hostess stand. Pizza was delicious-definitely our favorite locally. The pasta ala vodka with grilled chicken was very good-we especially loved the seasoning on the chicken. We are looking forward to ordering again and trying some other menu items.

Had such a delicious dinner tonight! I asked to substitute an ingredient on the menu and they were very accomodating. Staff was very friendly and personable. Love the fact the owners go table to table and get to know their customers! Can’t wait to come back for many amazing more meals and drinks!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Chenzo’s is the real deal when it comes to authentic Italian food. My wife and I were greeted the moment we walked in, which immediately set the tone for a great experience. She ordered the lunch special with Alfredo and blackened chicken and said it was absolutely fantastic. I tasted the sauce myself and it was rich, full of flavor, and perfectly done. I went with the meatballs and penne vodka, and it was outstanding—cooked perfectly, flavorful, and clearly made with care. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I was so excited to try this place, and it did not disappoint. The Tuscan shrimp was incredible — perfectly cooked and served over the most dreamy bed of polenta I’ll be thinking about until I’m back. The garlic was sweet and mellow, I’m guessing from being confited, and it tied everything together beautifully. The bar alone is worth the visit — it’s so pretty and has such a great energy. Can’t wait to come back (and hopefully save room for dessert next time)!
